CHICAGO STORM: THREE PLAYERS SUSPENDED
Apr 10, 2008 - Storm suspend forwards Bollella, Farias and defender Rivera indefinitely
The Chicago Storm suspended forwards Mariano Bollella and Carlos “Chile” Farias, and defender Edgar Rivera, for conduct detrimental to the team and the Major Indoor Soccer League, Storm Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Brian Loftin said Wednesday. They are suspended indefinitely as the team prepares for its Major Indoor Soccer League quarterfinal opener against La Raza de Monterrey on Thursday, April 10.
The fifth-seeded Storm host fourth-seeded La Raza at 7 p.m. Thursday for Game 1 of their MISL Championship Series quarterfinal matchup at the Sears Centre Arena. Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets start at only $16.
Chicago posted a 15-15 record during the regular season, while Monterrey had a 16-14 mark. La Raza and the Storm split the regular-season series head-to-head. Chicago won La Raza’s MISL debut Nov. 1, 2007, in Monterrey, Mexico, by a 16-12 margin. The Storm also posted a thrilling, come-from-behind home victory March 8, earning an 11-9 win. Monterrey captured a 16-14 win Jan. 4 and a 24-12 victory Feb. 28.
Monterrey is one of three expansion teams this 2007-08 season. La Raza and the New Jersey Ironmen joined the six-team playoff field, while Orlando missed out on the postseason.
