Wave rally, then hold on to beat Blast

01/23/2010 9:57 PM - MILWAUKEE (Jan. 23, 2010) – Marco Terminesi returned from a two-game absence to score five points, and the Wave nailed a trio of 3-pointers to defeat the Baltimore Blast 13-10 on Saturday and snap a three-game losing streak.

Milwaukee (6-5) pulled a half-game ahead of Baltimore (5-5) in the MISL standings, but trails Rockford (6-4), which beat Philadelphia on Saturday to hold first place alone. The Wave visit Monterrey today after a very short night of sleep.

Baltimore led 6-2 before the Wave rallied, taking their first lead on Kyt Selaidopoulos’ 3-point power-play goal just 1:31 into the third quarter.

The Blast went back on top when former Wave player Jonathan Greenfield cleaned up a rebound in front of Marcel Feenstra, but Terminesi capped the third quarter with a stunning strike from near the yellow line. Sagu barely moved off his line and the Wave had the lead for good.

Ian Bennett added a big insurance goal with 7:51 remaining after the Wave took the ball away in Baltimore’s defensive half. He struck a half-volley from well outside the yellow line with Sagu far off his line. The Brazilian keeper was able to graze the ball but couldn’t keep it out, and Milwaukee took a 13-8 lead.

Giuliano Celenza cut the margin to 13-10 with a sixth attacker goal in the final minute, but the Blast weren’t able to come up with the tying strike.

Feenstra saved 21 of 26 shots, and the Wave came up with 18 blocks, including six by JP Rodrigues.
