MISL PLAYERS OF THE MONTH

Offensive - Carlos Farias, Monterrey La RaZa
Monterrey’s Carlos Farias led La RaZa to a 5-1 record in January with 16 points. In his biggest game of the season, he recorded two three-point goals and a two-point goal (eight points) in La RaZa’s 18-10 win over Milwaukee on January 10th. In total, he tallied two three-point goals, three two-point goals and four assists in the six games. Heading into this weekend’s games, Farias leads La RaZa and ranks second in the MISL with 30 points.
Defensive - Pat Morris, Philadelphia KiXX
KiXX defender Pat Morris anchored the Philadelphia defense in January and also scored at least four points in all four games. He recorded 20 points on the month for an average of five points a game, including an eight-point performance in the team’s 23-20 win over the Rockford Rampage on January 9th. That weekend he tallied a total of 12 points and was named the MISL Player of the Week. Morris, who scored his 175th career goal in January, ranks second on the KiXX and ninth in the MISL with 25 points this season. On the month, he scored eight goals (one three-pointer) and registered three assists. Three of his knocks were power play goals, and he also recorded a team-leading 11 blocks on the month.
Goalkeeper - Jose Bontti, Monterrey La RaZa
Monterrey’s goalkeeper Jose Bontti won five games in January, leading the first-place La RaZa to a 5-1 record and a four-game winning streak to close out the month. He allowed just 24 goals in six games in January, and held the Rampage to just one goal in Monterrey’s 4-2 win on the 30th. Bontti, 7-4 on the season, leads the MISL in games played (11) and minutes (652) and ranks second with an 11.14 points against average.
About the Major Indoor Soccer League
The MISL represents the major league of professional indoor soccer, featuring the finest indoor soccer players from around the world. The league consists of five member clubs in 2009-10: the Baltimore Blast, La RaZa de Monterrey, Philadelphia KiXX, Rockford Rampage and the Milwaukee Wave. The regular season will run for 18 weeks and will conclude on Sunday, March 21. The postseason is set to start the following weekend with the top three teams qualifying. The second- and third-place teams will square-off in a home-and-home Semifinal series with the winner advancing to battle the top seed.
