The St. Louis Steamers enter this archive as an expansion club and leave it holding three awards. The first report to name them, dated 23 July 2003, describes a roster assembled with a deliberately local base: ten picks in the 2003 expansion draft, three of them players who had come up through Missouri high-school and amateur soccer, and four protected players retained from the club's earlier run in the World Indoor Soccer League.
Two and a half seasons later St. Louis took three of the five league awards for 2005-06 — Omid Namazi as Coach of the Year, Genoni Martinez as Defender of the Year and Brett Phillips as Goalkeeper of the Year. Only Philadelphia, in 2004-05, matches that in the recovered record.
Namazi's award is the archive's one clear case of a person winning the same honour at two clubs: Coach of the Year at Cleveland in 2004-05, then at St. Louis in 2005-06. Martinez arrived by a similarly traceable route — Cleveland took him with the second pick of the 2005 dispersal draft, out of the folded Monterrey roster, before he ended up in St. Louis.
The Steamers themselves took seven players in that draft, five from San Diego and two from Monterrey, beginning with Mariano Bollella at pick three. Eleven reports name the club in total and the corpus carries 62 mentions. The coverage runs from July 2003 to May 2006, all of it inside the revival era.
